Rotting beached whales
From today's SiliconValley.com:
As sad as it is that such a big part of my own recent history is still "rotting like a beached whale," it's nice to know that it'll eventually be used for a good purpose. Personally, I think they should leave the slides; what better way for a doctor to get to a patient's room, stat?
From 101, you can see the old Excite@Home buildings in Redwood City, connected by a pedestrian bridge. Built for the company, the site has stood empty, rotting like a beached whale until last year when Stanford University Hospital bought it (they plan to get rid of the two playground slides that take you from the second to first floors).
Just another symbol of an era of bloated parties, bloated expectations and bloated layoff notices?
Or maybe the buildings are just like those roadside crosses, saying simply -- something died here. Learn from our mistake. Don't crash into this tree again.
