Beeperlepsy, 2007 style

Today, along with what seemed like half of the European IT industry, I went to 3GSM, which is being held at the convention complex here in Barcelona. This is the biggest mobile tech event, and over 50,000 people are expected this year.

The funniest thing I saw all day wasn't the bagpiper wandering the show floor, or the azafatas (booth babes) dressed in nurses' outfits complete with miniskirts, or the Canadian mobile electronic billboard guys...it was the sight of 50,000 people reaching for their phones every time the "new message" beep played within earshot.

I'm going back tomorrow...I may set my phone to play Gran Vals at 30-second intervals, just for fun.
